Many Pop Art imagesare perfect for making griddler puzzles. The bold (but few) colors, the large interesting shapes and iconic characters, legends or events depicted make for very interesting puzzles. On the right are some Pop Art images that I think would make great puzzles. Many of them are of Madonna because that is the particular Pinterest "rabbit hole" I fell down. Artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Keith Haring are perfect examples of artists that create art that is perfect for Griddler Puzzles! I found a great image of Pop Art portraying a 90's Madonna (the artist currently known as, not Mary, mother of Jesus). As anyone who make puzzles regularly will tell you some body parts like hands and strands of hair are very difficult to make solvable puzzles with. My issues with this image? Madonna's eyelashes and one eyebrow. Madonna, before she became internationally famous, had pretty bushy eyebrows; that would have been easier, I think. This eyebrow has been waxed beyond recognition and for some reason is very hard to make solvable without increasing the size. The eyelashes are even tougher. The areas in the picture on the right that are shaded ,still need to be changed to make the puzzle solvable. What you can't see in the picture is the time I put into making the other eyelashes (not to mention the eye you can't see) solvable. I try VERY hard not to change the original image too much. Sometimes it is necessary. I hope to find a solution soon to this issue so I can submit this puzzle and get started on some other Pop Art inspired puzzles. | |

I haven't been creating any new puzzles in a while. I am a teacher and I also have a summer job. Since the summer job sort of started on Memorial Day I have been pulling double duty trying to do both jobs. This is my last week of school and I am all done giving & grading finals, grading late work, and entering in report card grades and comments. I have to clean up my classroom but I have one and a half days left to do that. When I did have some down time these last few weeks I have been trying to solve other author's Griddlers. Right now I am SLOWLY going through the 80 parts of a puzzle entitled Miss Tress (#21660) by the author TNT. This is quite an undertaking, that I actually started two years ago but I recently started again trying to solve some of the parts. ** spoiler alert ** Click HERE if you want to see an image of the puzzle so far. Meanwhile, I have also found some new artists and images that I think will make great puzzles. I look forward to spending any rainy days this summer making puzzles out of these images. In the meantime enjoy these artists and their work! Max Kisman - http://www.maxkisman.com/Jim Flora - http://www.jimflora.com/Well I fell down the Pinterest rabbit hole last night but when I came back up I found two more artists and their work that I think will make some really beautiful and interesting puzzles. Seriously, next time you are on Pinterest just type in "illustrations" and see what you find. There are so many great artists at work out there.
